The Annual Open Garden Tours seek to bring you on the Adventure of Gardens and Gardening.

🌿 About Open Garden Tours 2025

We’re excited to welcome you to the 2nd Annual Open Garden Tours — a day dedicated to celebrating the beauty, creativity, and spirit of gardening in our local communities.

Taking place on Saturday, July 19th from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM, this one-day event invites you to explore private and community gardens across Sturbridge, Brimfield, and Brookfield.

From vibrant flower beds and pollinator havens to productive backyard vegetable patches, each garden showcases the heart and soul of the gardeners who tend them.

🌸 Our Mission

The Open Garden Tours is a grassroots collaboration among gardeners from Sturbridge, Brimfield, and Brookfield, coming together to:

  • Share their love of gardening

  • Inspire others to start or expand their own gardens

  • Promote wellness, local resilience, and community connection through green spaces

Whether you're a seasoned grower or just planting your first seeds, this event is a celebration of the joys and rewards of cultivating life from the soil.

  • Location: Various private gardens across Sturbridge, Brimfield & Brookfield
    A digital event guide and map will be provided with ticket purchase

 

🌼 Event Highlights

  • Explore Inspiring Gardens across three towns

  • Artist in the Garden: Local artist Gloria Goguen will be doing live plein air drawing at the Old Sturbridge Village Herb Garden

  • After-Garden Reception: Unwind at the Brimfield Winery (optional) with wine tasting and community vibes (RSVP required)

Join fellow garden enthusiasts for an After-Garden Tour Reception at Brimfield Winery, starting at 4:30 PM. Relax and mingle with fellow garden lovers while enjoying wine, music, and light bites. ($15 fee to be collected by the reception host, Annette Farrington.)

🌱 Participating Gardens – 2025

This year’s tour features a wonderful variety of private and community gardens, farms, and greenhouses across Sturbridge, Brimfield, and Brookfield. Each location reflects the passion and personality of its caretakers—offering visitors a unique glimpse into local garden life:

  1. The Bird Store and More (Sturbridge)
    Discover the enchanting Bird Store and More in Sturbridge, where nature lovers can immerse themselves in a whimsical garden and marvel at New England’s largest bird clock, features a variety of lush shade plants, perfectly complemented by an array of bird feeders and outdoor bird ornaments.

  2. Community Food Collaborative (Sturbridge)
    This inspiring community garden donates 100% of its harvest to the St. John Paul II Food Pantry, providing nutritious food to those in need.

  3. Old Sturbridge Village – Herb Garden (Sturbridge)
    Historic herb beds filled with medicinal and culinary plants. Live plein air drawing by artist Gloria Goguen.

  4. The Snay Family Garden (Sturbridge)
    A backyard oasis showcasing a productive kitchen garden with a charming rustic greenhouse, perennials, ornamental plants and fruit trees.

  5. The Dubois Family Garden (Sturbridge)
    Meet the founder of Sturbridge Gardeners Community & maker of SuperHealingSalve. Don't miss this medicinal garden, thriving with healing herbs and ingredients for their renowned salve. Growing vibrant cut flowers, fruit trees and favorite vegetables, to healing herbs for teas and remedies.

  6. The Farrington-Lowery Garden (Brimfield)
    An English-garden inspired garden retreat with seasonal blooms and whimsical features. Growing a combination of vegetables, fruits, herbs, and flowers. Keeping the garden as organic as possible and using some permaculture methods as well.

  7. The Petrie Family Farm (Brimfield)
    A 4-acre homestead working farm provides microgreens, produce, eggs, flowers, plants & more! Kune Kune pigs, rabbits, chickens, quail, ducks & sheep. They supply bulk items to restaurants, other farms & share purchasers.

  8. Dragonfly Farm (Brimfield)
    A charming, tucked-away farm famous for Jane's Dahlias and cutflowers with so many mature maple trees, some specimen trees, 7 Sons Flower (Heptacodium), dogwoods, Sourwood (Oxydendron), shade loving plants including natives. 

  9. The Fontaine Family Garden (Brimfield)
    Enjoy this inspired backyard garden with a pond with lovely moss-covered rocks. Featured in the garden are hostas, hydrangeas, spiraeas , organic vegetable garden.

  10. The Roberts Family Garden (Brookfield)
    Enjoy this Japanese inspired garden meander through pine trails and through lovely shaded planting beds. Enjoy the tranquil energy of this quiet Garden.

  11. Lamoureux Greenhouses (Brookfield)
    Lamoureux’s is a family owned and run business that was started in 1978 with one greenhouse and two acres of land. Today we have grown to 12 greenhouses and 25 acres of land, a full nursery section featuring many common shrubs and trees as well as the exotic plants.
